The first competition of the season used to be known as “First Exposure”. The name has been changed , partly because the new one is more descriptive, partly to highlight the fact that there are changes this year.
First, the judge will not have seen the images before the night, unlike past years where he had them some weeks in advance.
Second, he will not simply give each image a score out of twenty. He will select a first, second third from each of several categories.
The scoring will require a supercomputer and lots of pencils. There will be unforeseen wrinkles, some of which will be ironed out after tonight.
Other clubs are adopting variations on this theme and more details will be given, starting on night one.
