Once upon a time I did basic darkroom work, and that is maybe partly why I enjoy monochrome so much; also, as every B&W enthusiast says, because it boosts the impact of shape and pattern.  Not to say that there is anything wrong about enjoying the glories of natural and artistic colour, in scenery or structures.

I enjoy the work of street photographers hugely, but only occasionally feel intrusive enough to get close enough.  Most of my photos are taken on the move, walking or sometimes cycling, but I hardly ever take a shot of anything or anyone moving.  How I admire the patience of wildlife photographers who freeze or sweat for hours waiting for an elusive creature to appear, and the skill of sports photographers who catch exactly the most dramatic moment!
