Well that’s the end of the season already (*except, see below…). Seems like only yesterday that Grace welcomed us to another new season full of interesting and fun activities. As it was AGM evening, we also got a recap of the year – a reminder of what a packed and successful agenda the club runs, thanks to the participants, the committee, members and our presenters and judges. We were reminded that we’ve helped (with images) Musselburgh CAB, East Space, the Haddington show, East Lothian Life magazine, and others. We’ve had seven guest speakers, we’ve heard/seen a lot of Locations, and projects, practical nights, and many other activities too numerous to repeat (ie my notes have failed me). The Treasurer shared that there are 6 extra members (and possibly more recently joined – hello and welcome), there has been some money in and some money out (see why I would never make an accountant ?), but we’re overall in a solvent position. From the competetition secretaries we had a review of the four judged competitions, with an average of 25 members entering each competition, and for the second year we won the Match An Image competition. There was much discussion of various things, what worked well (and less so), what we might spend money on, and much else. There was the re-election of the committee (please volunteer to be a member), and finally an explanation of the Health and Safety policy and why it matters – a lot. You can see that policy here.
We had the awards ceremony – congratulations to all the winners, who will be listed (with images) elsewhere on the website. I’ve put a few images of the presentations into a members-only gallery here. Next year I’m going to be an actual photographer and photograph the winners with the professionalism they deserve, backdrops, studio lights, red carpet, and polished cups. No speeches required.
*So, still to come … and if it’s not too late to remind you, tonight (Thursday 2nd April) is the 3-way competition at The Fisherrow Centre, Musselburgh, 7pm. See you there ? We have the scavenger hunt in Dunbar at 10am 11th April – lots of effort has gone into making that an interesting walk around so please come and support that. The annual exhibition will arrive sooner than you expect (a bit like the AGM did) – get your entries prepared, and sent in ASAP (if you want the club to print them, otherwise print them yourself and get them in also ASAP), print mounting evenings will be 5th and 12th May – help is very much needed for this. And the exhibition itself starts on 16th May until mid July.
As if that wasn’t enough, there will be regular Tuesday evening outings to various local places – we’ll let you have that agenda soon.
So, once again, thank you for being part of the club, and for participating – and especially again, to the committee for putting together such an agenda that makes this a really interesting and friendly club.
