Well the new tradition of the end-of-season Scavenger Hunt was really good fun. Sixty (or more) subjects to photograph around Dunbar, including the ubiquitous ‘Yellow Car’ (not quite the challenge as in previous years…), some easy ones, some surprises, some particularly obscure… but all good. Thanks again to Elaine, Grace, and Christine for doing the job of preparing the trail. If you fancy putting together a ‘guided walk’ of a local place you like for next year, please volunteer. You’ll enjoy it. Thanks also to Elaine for the entertaining photo, could it be real or no ? Ask AI.

There are some changes on the Committee – David is our new Secretary and Lorraine has stepped down – many thanks to Lorraine for her help as Secretary.

Dear Member, I’m your new secretary and I’m writing to give you a quick update on
last week’s committee meeting
minutes. Anne, our treasurer, has also
sent me an updated set of Income and Expenditure accounts which I’ve
attached. Finally, I’ve also included details (below) of the coming season’s
renewal fees.
As we conclude another fantastic year of competitions, learning, and
creative growth, the Committee has been looking ahead to our upcoming
season.
Our commitment to value has been evident over the past year. We’ve
strived to offer high-quality speakers engaging competitions and
practical nights to hone your photographic skills. From our practical
workshops to the wonderful exhibition at St Mary’s Kirk, our goal
remains the same: to create a supportive inspiring and affordable
environment for photographers of all levels in our local community.
Membership Fee Update. To maintain these high standards and ensure we
can continue to book good quality guest speakers and judges, we have
recently conducted a review of our operating costs. Due to rising costs
and speaker fees, we find it necessary to make a small adjustment to our
annual subscription.
For the first time in several years, the annual membership fee will
increase from £50 to £55 for the 2026/2027 season.
We’ve worked hard to keep this increase as low as possible. To put it
in perspective, the £5 annual rise is less than the cost of a single
coffee and cake on the high street spread across a year of club
activities.
This adjustment ensures the club’s long-term financial health and allows
us to maintain the quality of our programme without compromise.
Subscription Renewal The new fee of £55 will take effect from the start
of the new season in September. We will provide further details on the
renewal process closer to the date.
